I-Bone Base: Power and Zone Blocking
Because the play hits in 4 different gaps, every time, I can change the way I block it, and then add twists and variations from it. But the key is that Mother of All Plays (MOAP) 1776 is ran often. It can actually be ran the entire game with RPO tag’s, making it unlimited in what you wanna do and where to hit on the map, and all you have to do is change the blocking between Power and Zone.
A very critical component to this whole operation of running 4 gap hitting points plus 2 pass options anywhere on the field, opposing teams learn to adapt and adjust, so that’s why you change the Offensive Lineman blocking procedures. Primary foundation is Power followed by Zone. Then Counter, Pull, Trap, Kick, Stretch, Toss, Screen, and Motion.
Quick Overview on Zone Blocking - Zone blocking is essentially saying do not extend past X many yards, usually between 1-3, and you have to stay within a zone. You can duo, hand off, slant, you name it. And you go into zone when there is an RPO tag, which is the ultimate Mother of All Plays.
Quick Overview of Power - Quad Option with NO RPO tag base is Power. It allows the lineman to go down hill as fast as possible and as far as possible. They either block straight, weak left, strong right. They can duo, then shoot up to the linebackers, or shoot straight up if the DT or DE is weak. This is the power package.
I-Bone Audibles
From here we run Counter Bash RPO Triple, in which is absolutely nasty. Strong one sided swing with 5 blockers in zone, slant, sluggo, fly, choice bascially, then either a lead blocker from F on the triple, or can be rpo tagged.
In standard Power, you can pull or kick who ever.
In standard Power, you can trap whoever you want. Just tag it. Power blocking is basically man in front down hill nasty blocking.
Stretch means you are going to power block down hill and essentially create a wall of running bulls.
Toss you basically toss give your back time to read and determine where to go. Rocket/Quick Toss is bam. Best when ran with a sugar huddle.
